General CBD FAQ’s

What is CBD?

CBD, or cannabidiol, as it’s otherwise known, is a naturally occurring compound extracted from the cannabis plant. There are many chemicals within the cannabis sativa plant and these are called cannabinoids. Two of the most well-known are THC and CBD.

THC is the psychoactive chemical that produces a ‘high’. CBD however, is not known to cause any psychoactive effects. To be legal in the UK, CBD products must contain less than 0.2% THC and therefore CBD products allow you to experience the benefits of the other cannabinoids found in the cannabis plant without experiencing any psychoactive effects.

CBD oil drops contain cannabidiol suspended in MCT oil and are designed to be taken under the tongue or added to food and drinks. CBD capsules also contain CBD suspended in MCT oil, but are designed to be ingested. Our products can be taken as a food supplement but are not medicines.

If you’d like to find out more, please refer to our blog post, ‘What is CBD Oil?’ for more information on cannabidiol oil.

What are CBD Oil Drops?

CBD Oil drops or ‘CBD tongue drops’ provide a method to take CBD in liquid form. A quality product will consist of a carrier oil (we use MCT oil) and cannabidiol extract. Some products, such as our own OK CBD Oil Drops, also include flavourings to enhance the experience of taking CBD drops orally.

The most common and effective method for taking CBD oil is to take it sublingually (drops placed under the tongue). However, they can also be added to food and drinks or even applied directly to the skin.

What are CBD Capsules?

CBD Capsules are simply another method to take cannabidiol. They are usually flavourless and will contain a measured dose of CBD oil. They provide a convenient alternative to CBD Oil Drops which are designed to be taken under the tongue, or in food and drinks and also allow for more consistent dosing.

What is the Difference Between Hemp Oil and CBD Oil?

When comparing hemp oil vs. CBD oil, the key difference is that the two products come from different parts of the hemp plant. Hemp oil comes from the seeds, and CBD oil can be extracted from the stems and leaves. Hemp oil is unrefined whereas cannabidiol oil is usually highly refined in order to isolate the most beneficial compounds of the plant.

What is a CBD Tincture?

CBD tincture is just another name for CBD oil drops. They are also sometimes referred to as ‘tongue drops’, due to the method of administration.

Is CBD Legal?

CBD products are legal to buy and sell in the UK, as long as they are derived from one of the 63 industrial hemp strains that have been EU-approved. To be legal for sale in the UK, CBD products must not contain more than 0.2% of the illegal and psychoactive compound, THC (tetrahydrocannabinol).

Can CBD Get You ‘High’?

No, CBD oil won’t get you high or cause any psychoactive effects.

THC is the psychoactive chemical in the cannabis (aka marijuana or hemp) plant which is responsible for creating a high. Cannabis plants containing high levels of THC are illegal in the UK. The hemp plants which are harvested to create our CBD products contain only traces of THC (less than 0.2%) which will not have any psychoactive effect, and is completely legal.

CBD Benefits

You may have read or heard about CBD being used by people with pain, anxiety, insomnia, fibromyalgia, arthritis and a wide variety other conditions.

We regret that due to government regulations, we are unable to offer advice regarding using CBD for specific complaints or conditions.

There have been many studies into the effects of CBD, however this research is still fairly new so further research is required to better understand the potential of cannabidiol.

We have hundreds of excellent reviews from our customers regarding our service, so please do check these out.

Buying CBD Products

How Can I Ensure That I’m Buying from a Reputable CBD Company?

We believe that buying the right CBD product matters, so we’ve put together this short guide in our blog.

Should I Choose CBD Oil or CBD Capsules?

Administering CBD oil under the tongue is the most effective method of taking cannabidiol. However, some find the sensation unpleasant or find it difficult to get the correct dosage. In this case, capsules can be a much more convenient alternative.

If you are still not sure which product is best for you, you can find a more in-depth comparison of the two products here.

OK CBD Product FAQ’s

What is the Percentage Concentration of CBD in Your Products?

We don’t label our products with a percentage concentration as we believe that this can confusion when comparing CBD products from other suppliers.

Some suppliers will list the percentage of hemp oil in their products rather than the actual percentage of CBD. Unrefined hemp oil contains plant oils that dilute the strength of the CBD. As a result, percentages stated on their packaging may not directly relate to the amount of CBD. For example, some products may show 5% on the label but this in fact is the amount of hemp oil and they may only contain around 0.45% actual CBD.

Our products are made from full spectrum cannabidiol distillate, which is highly refined. The actual percentages of CBD distillate in our oil drops are as follows:

200mg: 1.33%

400mg: 2.67%

800mg: 5.33%

We are extremely passionate about our products, and have worked to ensure that they are stronger, better value and taste a lot better than other similar products on the market. You can find out more about our products here.

Which CBD Oil Strength Should I Buy?

The optimal dosage for CBD differs from person to person and can depend on several factors including body weight, height and tolerance. If you’re new to CBD however, we recommend starting with a lower strength oil and taking around 1-2 drops per day. Continue at this dose for at least 2 weeks to observe how it works for you. If after 2 weeks you aren’t experiencing your desired benefits, consider increasing your servings or moving up to a higher strength.

If you have been using 200mg concentration and are taking more than 6 drops per day, we recommend moving to up to a higher strength oil. You’ll find you will need to take far less drops which will be more cost-effective for you.

There are no known adverse effects from taking CBD and there has never been a case of anyone ‘over-dosing’ on cannabidiol.

Which Strength CBD Capsules Should I Buy?

If you’re completely new to CBD, we would recommend starting off with our 10mg strength capsules. We recommend one capsule per day and that you trial taking them for at least 1 week before you decide whether you may need our high strength 25mg capsules.

More information on how to use OK CBD oil drops can be found here.

In Food & Drink

You can also take CBD by adding a few drops to your food or drink.

How do I Take CBD Capsules?

Take one capsule per day, followed by a drink of water.

How Much CBD Should I Take?

The amount of CBD you should take is subjective as it depends on your individual physiology and the reasons for which you are taking the oil. However, please see our guidance below:

  • CBD Oil Drops Starting with a low dose will allow you to increase or decrease the dosage depending on your experiences. The standard recommended dose of OK CBD oil is 1 to 2 drops twice a day. You can then increase this if required, up to a recommended maximum of 15 drops per day.
  • CBD Capsules We recommend taking a maximum of one capsule per day.

You can find further information on how much CBD you should take in this blog post.

Is it Possible to Take Too Much CBD?

Although we don’t recommend consuming in excess of 15 CBD oil drops or one CBD capsule per day, there have been no reported incidences, injury or illness caused by taking too much CBD oil. There is some further information available about the safety of doses on the WebMD website.

CBD Isn’t Working For Me, What Should I Do?

Sadly, CBD doesn’t work for everybody. However, there are some things you can try if you are not experiencing the desired results.

  • Ensure you are buying a lab tested, full spectrum product.
It’s important to ensure that you are buying legitimate cannabidiol products. Ensure that the company you are buying from can provide lab test results for their products to certify that they contain the stated amount of CBD.
  • Increase the number of drops you are taking
You may find that you need a higher dosage of CBD. Please see this blog post for more information.
  • Choose a product with a higher concentration of CBD
Don’t give up if you have only tried 200mg strength CBD oil, for example. It may be that a 400mg or even 800mg strength will be more suitable for you.

Can I Drive After Taking CBD?

CBD does not have any psychoactive effects; however, you may find that CBD oil makes you feel a little tired or sleepy. If you’re trying CBD oil for the first time, we recommend that you take your first dose when you won’t need to drive or operate machinery for a few hours.

Will CBD Show Up in a Drugs Test?

Different drugs tests may look for different substances, however CBD wouldn’t normally be tested for in a drugs test as it is legal and doesn’t have any psychoactive effects.

Most tests look for THC which is only present in very trace amounts in CBD products (less than 0.2%) so, unless you’re taking a high quantity of CBD at very high concentration and the tests are looking for THC in the blood, it wouldn’t trigger a positive result. We would recommend that if you are subject to mandatory drugs tests through your employment for example, you check to see which specific substances are tested for.
